About this vintage design furniture

This elegant pair of gilded mirrors dates from the second half of the 19th century, Napoleon III period, circa 1870. Surrounding each large rectangular mirror plate is a detailed gilded wood frame carved in faux bamboo, with a superb patina, mounted on a solid oak frame. Its neoclassical style is strongly inspired by chinoiserie and Japonisme, very much in vogue under Napoleon III. The mirror frame has been reupholstered in Métaphores jacquard fabric, a silk fabric decorated with flowers, roses, poppies and variegated foliage to create a delicate décor. The mirrors have all been replaced, as one was missing when the pieces were purchased. Both mirrors have been fully restored, with a complete cleaning and some gold leaf gilding. A complete restoration file with photos is available on request. The pair of poufs by Maison Jansen, shown in a few photos and reupholstered in the same fabric, are also for sale and available.
