Vintage lucite tray, Italy 1970

An amazing serving tray designed and manufactured in Italy in the Seventies in the style of Christian Dior who used lucite with a faux tortoiseshell effect for many of his home collections, the tray it's in very good condition. Mid-Century Modern design, which flourished roughly from the 1940s to the 1970s, is characterized by clean lines, minimalistic forms, and a focus on functionality. Lucite, a transparent thermoplastic, was a popular material during this period due to its versatility and modern aesthetic. Fake tortoiseshell effect, was used to mimic the look of the genuine material without the ethical concerns associated with using real tortoiseshell.
