About this vintage design furniture

Empoli glass decanter, Italian work circa 1960. Decanter in the shape of a seated dachshund, with the stopper forming its head. Plastic part for a totally hermetic stopper. Transparent molded glass. In very good condition, please note: a flaw in the glass at the neck, which in no way alters its condition or use. Manufactured in the Empoli glassworks in the 60s. Italian red wine (including Barsottini) was sold in these types of bottle. Empoli is known as a city of glass, just a few kilometers from Florence, the city of the Renaissance. Its history begins in the modern age, with the revolution in wine storage and transport, which saw the switch from wooden or terracotta containers to glass bottles and carboys. The widespread use of glass containers - more hygienic, lighter and easier to transport - was made possible by improved glass-melting techniques in the most important centers of Val d'Elsa: Montaione, Gambassi and Empoli were home to most of the master glassmakers' workshops, many of them highly sought-after by the court of the Grand Duke of Florence. 37 x 10.5 x 9cm Clean, fast and careful shipment or hand-delivery to Paris / Reims / Laon.
