Pair of vintage ceramic lamps by Per Linnemann Schmidt for Palshus Pottery, Denmark 1960

Rare pair of Danish Palshus lamps by Per Linnemann Schmidt - Denmark 1960s Palshus produced work using chamotte techniques. In Denmark, this format is considered the jewel in the crown. The lampshade and electrical system are new. Palshus Pottery was founded by Per Linnemann-Schmidt and Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt in 1947 in the town of Sengløse just west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The studio's name is an acronym of P(er),(A)nnelise (L)innemann, (S)chmidt and HUS (house). Early studio pieces were precise and minimalist in nature, with beautifully silky, matte glazes - mainly in subtle shades of brown, blue, green or cream. At Palshus, the 1960s saw a change in style with the use of chamotte (textured clay) as well as printed patterns / sgrafitto, used in conjunction with more coarsely textured gloss glazes.
