Vintage wooden bar by Umberto Mascagni for Harrods London Furniture, Italy 1950

Bar cabinet designed by Umberto Mascagni of Bologna in the 1950s. The main structure is made of solid European wood, covered in cream-colored vinyl with anodized aluminum, decorated sanded convex glasses. Even the legs are covered with black vinyl! Excellent vintage condition! This bar cabinet is an interesting example of midcentury Italian design. In 1952 Umberto Mascagni created a new way of producing furniture using new materials such as PVC and anodized aluminum. This was provocative considering the market at that time. His furniture was sold by Harrod's, London, 1952-1955. Reference : 287735
