Vintage Fh4103 Heart dining chairs by Hans Wegner for Fritz Hansen, Denmark 1950s

Superb set of four first generation 1950s Fritz Hansen FH4103 ‘Heart’ dining chairs, designed in 1953 by Hans Wegner, and are not only beautiful, they’re also practical - three legged chairs never wobble and they can also be stacked to preserve space. These chairs are have had one previous owner and have lived around the same dining table (non-matching) in the same room since they were purchased new in the mid 1950s, and are in wonderful condition still wearing their original factory finish. Constructed from solid Beech with teak faced sculpted seats, they have over time gently mellowed to a rich honey colour and have rock solid joints. All chairs are stamped underneath with the early “FH. Danmark” ink stamp, accompanied by punched letters “O” on three chairs, and “E” on the fourth, which I presume identifies the maker. You can see in the last image one of the backrests has a very small chip to the rear and what looks like a scratch across the front face, which under close inspection is under the finish and probably the natural wood grain. Since they’ve been with us, we’ve treated them to a gentle wax, and in our opinion, one of the best looking sets currently on the market. Reference : 284207
