About this vintage design furniture
Tizio lamp by Richard Sapper for Italian publisher Artemide. He created this lamp in 1972, revolutionary for its time as the first lamp to use a halogen bulb, but also for its counterweight system that perfectly balances the structure, allowing the user to position the light precisely on the desired area with a simple gesture of the hand. Selected in 1979 for the Compasso d'Oro award, it was later integrated into the MoMa permanent collection. Still in production today, it is now available in three models: Tizio, Tizio micro and Tizio plus. The structure consists of a cylindrical base made of propylene ether and polystyrene, containing the transformer, and a switch on the base for two different luminous intensities. The light leaving the transformer is then transmitted through its two aluminum arms. Each arm ends in a cast zinc alloy counterweight to balance the pendulum system. Arm spacing is permitted and maintained by chrome-plated steel spacer bars terminating in two red-molded thermoplastic insulators. Its head, made of die-cast aluminum, is also adjustable and features an anodized aluminum internal reflector.in very good condition, fully serviced by a professional electrician.
