About this vintage design furniture
Signed sommerso glass vase by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta (Sweden, 1960s). This beautiful vase is made of thick navy blue glass encased in pale grey layer and surrounded by transparent glass. It is extremely decorative. The base is incised with "Kosta LH 1826". Height: 18.5 cm; width: 8 cm; depth: 5 cm. Weight: 1.2 kg. Excellent vintage condition.
"Sommerso" (Italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in Murano which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.

Vicke Lindstrand was a Swedish designer and artist born on June 17, 1904 in Malmö, Sweden, and died on October 7, 1983 in Kosta, Sweden. He is best known for his work as a glass designer for the Swedish company Orrefors.
