About this vintage design furniture

Saint-Louis, paperweight sulphur Decorated in the center of a crystallo-ceram representing Saint Louis, signed and dated 1967. Polychrome interior crown in millefiori. Model created in 1967 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the Saint Louis crystal factory. Size with five pontils and upper windows. To note: very small chip on a corner (see last photo). Otherwise, clear, good condition. Fast and careful shipment. H. 4,5 cm D. 7,5 cm weight : 0,305 kg The Royal Glassworks of Saint-Louis, located in the French town of Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche in Moselle, is the oldest glassworks in France. In 1829, the glassworks became the "Compagnie des Cristalleries de Saint Louis". The crystal factory, still in operation today, was bought in 1989 by the famous luxury brand Hermès. Saint-Louis is, after Baccarat, the largest French crystal maker. This rare model is in crystalloceramics. The crystallo-ceramics is a technique of decoration of glass which was created towards the end of the 19th century. It consists in including in a crystal object a ceramic cameo which has been previously molded and then finely chiseled by hand. Here, it is the portrait of the King of France Louis IX (1226-1270), who will become Saint Louis, a legendary figure of the history of France and Christianity.
