Beautiful Murano sommerso glass vase designed by Flavio Poli - Murano, Italy, 1960s. This beautiful vase is made of thick purple, light blue (cyan) and clear glass. It is extremely decorative. "Sommerso" is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. Measurements: height: 20.5 cm; width: 6.5 cm; depth: 6.5 cm. Weight: 1.2 kg. Very good vintage condition. One small chip at the base (see pictures).

Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
