About this vintage design furniture
Scandinavian style vintage mid-century teak extension dining table, circa 1960. The table was made by VDN Varufakta for IKEA and was part of the "Monopol" series, designed by Gillis Lundgren. Although there is no brand name, this model and series appeared in the IKEA catalogue between 1963 -1966. The piece is made of wood with compressed wood and particle board, finished in teak veneer (see photos.) The legs have a unique, elegant and beautiful carved design, which is specific to the Monopol series (see photos.) The table is overall, in very good, original vintage condition. The top is in near new condition, with beautiful grain, rich warm and bright colors (see photos.) The legs are also in very good original condition (see photos), as is the frame, which has some light age and use marks commensurate with time, but nothing that detracts from its beauty or functionality (see photos.) The patina is also consistent with age and use.The table is solid. It has been only lightly dusted, cleaned and polished, respecting the integrity of the original patina. In its current configuration, this table can comfortably seat 4 to 6 people (see photo.) Although the extension is not present, we have photographed it completely open, so that one can note the difference in length and width, if one chooses to have an extension made. An incredible and timeless piece of mid-century modern design history that will only complement the other MCM pieces. Dimensions: Table closed: 155 cm, fully open: 216,5 cm
