About this vintage design furniture
In the 1985's, Opsvik looked into "manners". We should pay more attention to what our bodies tell us and worry less about conventions. That's why, by the early 1980s, it was essential to demolish the stereotypical ideal of good sitting posture. To get this message across, Opsvik created a number of products whose impact was more important than their use value. Their aim was to create sympathy for a freer use of the body. The garden chair was developed for this message. At the beginning of 1985, the models were equipped with a round leg. Later the chair was reproduced with a different leg. Climbing almost on the chair, sitting in any desired position is surprisingly comfortable because of the way the chair can support the parts of our body. It is an original object from the 1980s in very good condition, in accordance with its age and use.
