Vintage ivory leather Italian sofa bed 1980s

Unusual vintage Italian leather, wood and chrome sofa bed dating from the 1980s. This unusual sofa bed has a multi-adjustable back that can be positioned at 5 different heights (as shown in the photos) so can either be set upright in a more formal setting or be set lower for lounging – in addition, it can be set in the full horizontal position to covert to the sofa bed which is a generous single size or small double. In addition, it features 2 side cushions that act as elbow supports or as head cushion supports (as shown) if you preferred to use the item more as a daybed configuration. The wood type looks to be Wenge and is good condition as are the chrome leg supports. The Ivory leather is in good overall condition but does have a few small cat claw marks here and there. These are shown as best as possible in the photos but the main marks, as shown in the large picture, are under where the side cushion sits over to the left of the sofa as you look at the pictures, so in normal use with the side cushions in place they cannot be seen. There are also a few in the main seating area but they are no more than 1-2mm in size. Overall the sofa has around a dozen such small marks but they do not detract from the overall visual appeal of the piece. Please note: where you see darker sections in the leather on close ups, these are not stains but just the shadows of the photographer. The sofa is by an unknown manufacturerdesigner but was clearly an expensive item at purchase based on the quality of the leather and the backrest tilting mechanism which still works perfectly. The leather could of course be fully restored if required at a reasonable cost but I would suggest that once you see the item in real life it’s likely that you wouldn’t consider it necessary. It is however, priced with this in mind.
