About this vintage design furniture
Floating shelf with drawer, designed by Aksel Kjersgaard and manufactured in Odder, Denmark. Superb grain and clean lines, carrying all the hallmarks of Danish Modernism’s minimalist aesthetic. A beautiful, practical item. Aksel Kjersgaard was a furniture designer and manufacturer. He created and produced furniture at the height of the Danish mid-century modern movement. In 1952 Kjersgaard returned to Denmark, after working and traveling through Europe and Morocco, to establish his own production company, Aksel Kjersgaard AS, and in 1955 he began producing furniture. Kjersgaard collaborated with iconic Danish designer Kai Kristiansen in the 1950s and ‘60s, and Ebbe Gehl & Søren Nissen from 1970. Although there are few production dates or model names available, Kjersgaard’s works are stamped andor numbered, making them easy to identify and desirable on the vintage market. In fact, many pieces are stamped “Odder”, which is an indication of provenance. Mark: Furnituremakers Danish Control - Aksel Kjersgaard - Odder - Made in Denmark - No 20
