Per BORRE

Anyone who has played with matches at some point in their childhood is fascinated by the infinite possibilities for combining shapes that matches offer. Furniture designer Per Borre was one such child, but for him, the appeal of identical elements has only grown with age. His masterpiece, Astral, is a prime example. The idea of reusing the same element over and over again inspired the award-winning bench. Borre's interest in construction goes back to his childhood. He spent his afternoons on building sites with his father, an architect, and his evenings spent in a basement with scraps of wood, a box of nails and a hammer. Borre went on to become a carpenter and furniture designer, as well as an architect. Every time he starts a new project, he uses a process of elimination to define what he's looking for, so as not to create something superfluous. Why design a chair or bookcase if it already exists?
