André DOMIN & Marcel GENEVRIERE

André Domin was born on April 11, 1893 in Paris, France. He initially trained as a lawyer, but eventually followed his passion for design and architecture. Domin was a creative mind with a modern, avant-garde vision. He was influenced by art movements such as Art Deco and the Modern Movement, which emerged at this time. Domin was known for his expertise in furniture, lighting and interior design.

Marcel Genevrière was born on November 2, 1885 in Paris, France. He studied architecture and worked as an architect before turning to design. Genevrière was a skilled technician and gifted craftsman. He brought technical precision to their joint creations and was particularly adept at prototyping and creating technical details for furniture.

André Domin and Marcel Genevrière founded their design company in 1928. They quickly gained popularity and attracted the attention of prestigious clients such as fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin and actress Arletty. Their distinctive style was characterized by clean lines, geometric shapes and high-quality materials. They also innovated in the use of new materials such as aluminum, glass and Plexiglas.

Among their most famous creations are such iconic pieces of furniture as the "Croisillon" armchair and the "Arlequin" chair. Their work was exhibited at international shows and helped shape the French design aesthetic of the time.

Unfortunately, the collaboration between André Domin and Marcel Genevrière came to an end with the outbreak of the Second World War. Domin joined the French Resistance, while Genevrière was forced to cease his activities due to wartime restrictions.

André Domin died in 1962, while Marcel Genevrière passed away in 1976. Although their collaboration was relatively brief, their work had a significant influence on French design and continues to be appreciated by design enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
