About this vintage design furniture

This chair, which changed the history of upholstered furniture is the result of an intuition of Afra and Tobia Scarpa. Designed in 1969, based on the new possibilities offered by the molding of polyurethane foam to generate an unconventional relaxation. The couple was strongly influenced by Tobia's father, Carlo Scarpa, a Venetian architect and designer. Their design of the Soriana chair has earned them numerous awards such as the Compasso d'Oro in 1970. Their design work consists of architecture and everyday household items, including interior design, furniture, clothing, art glass. This chair consists of 100% recycled PET or wadding upholstery and a painted metal structure. The particularity of this chair is that it does not need internal support due to the metal structure that encircles it like a vice. Reference : 245871
