About this vintage design furniture
Bullicante & sommerso Murano glass bowl or ashtray by Barovier & Toso (Italy, 1960s). Controlled bubble effect known as ''bullicante'' encased in the glass. Made of thick light amber, dark amber and clear glass. Width 16.5 cm; depth: 12.5 cm; height 6.5 cm. Original sticker at the bottom still intact. Excellent vintage condition.
"Sommerso" is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.

BAROVIER
Barovier is the name of a famous family of Italian glassmakers who have been active in the glass industry for over seven centuries. Among the most notable members of this family is Ercole Barovier (1889-1974), a designer and master glassmaker who played an important role in the 20th-century renaissance of the Murano glass industry.
